San Francisco’s Pride parade long ago turned into an obscene
celebration of “rainbow capitalism” with contingents of 2,000+ employee
clones (all wearing identical t-shirts) assembled by Google, Apple etc.
Several years ago the contradictions reached the breaking point
for me personally when the Pride parade organizers stripped whistle
blower Chelsea (née Bradley) Manning of her nomination for Grand
Marshall. And it was the first time ever that San Francisco Pride allowed a military
recruitment booth as an exhibitor at the parade.
I danced in a contingent in
that year’s parade, in part because of that year's historic Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage. But never since. So, I was happy to see this photo from the parade a couple years ago.
